Fantasy Football Best Pickup Players Week 2: Karlos Williams, Bishop Sankey
Week 1 is in the books. Here are view waiver wire transactions that will improve your squad.
The big story on the other side of the same game was the play of Buccaneers tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, who caught five passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns.
David Johnson and Chris Johnson (no relation) RBs Arizona Cardinals $2- Your guess is as good as mine, but both guys are available in almost 80% of Yahoo leagues. Chris Johnson will get the start, but if the veteran struggles David Johnson could a decent amount of touches.
And with the way CJ has folded the past two seasons, would you be all that surprised to see his understudy on the bill when the curtain opens?
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati (19%) Remember him? But he’s far from a liability, either. St. Louis has the look of a dominant defense, which is a bit of a concern, but even if they shut down Alfred Morris and the run game, we can expect Reed to see all the targets he can handle. And his 269 yards and two touchdowns last week, in a 33-13 win that was over the minute Oakland quarterback Derek Carr dropped back, proved he can produce. He’s just never been taken seriously. Like we have discussed, he’s Brian Hoyer’s best weapon, and has succeeded in the past with worse quarterbacks. Donte Moncrief had six receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown on Sunday, and Moncrief looks to see an increased role in week two with the potential absence of Hilton. Now there were a lot of targets to be had in week one from Andrew Luck, but Moncrief should be lined up as the flanker here. If he was somehow not drafted, that is.
If Week 1 felt like it was particularly tight end-friendly, it’s because it was. He was likely undrafted, with fantasy players trusting only Brandin Cooks, Mark Ingram, Marques Colton, or C.J. Spiller.
Green was extremely efficient last week, parlaying his 6 targets into a 5-catch, 74-yard, 1-touchdown line. He could have a breakout season if Hilton is plagued with injuries this season. I am quite content with those early results, despite missing on Marcus Mariota this week.
– This was eye-opening: San Francisco’s Carlos Hyde outrushed Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson 168-31 in the last game of the week. But Cunningham looked explosive and powerful, often appearing on the screen like he started running five yards ahead of the line of scrimmage.
Nobody’s going to mispronounce Marcus Mariota’s name now, at least not if he continues to perform like he did during his National Football League debut. Anderson also came away from the game with a sprained toe.
Of course, that’s to be expected. While they didn’t sink your fantasy team, they didn’t do much to help, either.
Mariota’s 24 points, incidentally, were accrued in exactly three quarters’ action; backup Zach Mettenberger played the entire fourth quarter, with his team up, 42-7. And he might be the first guy picked off waivers by Wednesday. The Packers take on the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field on Sunday Night Football in Week 2. If Green keeps playing like he did against the Lions, San Diego might be unable to sit him when Gates gets back. Every league is different, however, and these rankings are for 10-team standard leagues, still the most popular on ESPN. We may also have forgot he was the 21st pick in the 2013 draft.
Everyone assumed Wright would be the Titans’ No. 1 receiver, and therefore Mariota’s favourite target.
Mariota’s National Football League debut could not have gone better. There was some concern as to whether Sankey would stay atop Tennessee’s depth chart, and whether he’d even produce as the starter.
