Disney removes Bill Cosby statue at Hollywood Studios | Arts & Ent , People
The bronze statue of disgraced comedian Bill Cosby will be hauled out of Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios Tuesday night at the same time a local woman’s petition gains traction. The development is just the latest in the scandal enveloping Cosby, with multiple women claiming the comedian drugged and then raped, fondled or otherwise sexually assaulted them while they were unconscious.
The accusations derailed Cosby’s comeback efforts, forcing the cancellation of shows on his comedy tour and prompting Netflix and NBC to shelve projects featuring the comedian.
Representatives for fellow “Cosby Show” stars Lisa Bonet, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Phylicia Rashad – who has said she felt the allegations were part of a campaign to destroy Cosby’s legacy – didn’t immediately respond to inquiries about the developments.
Bill Cosby’s first accuser says his full deposition in her sexual assault lawsuit should be released because he broke the confidentiality pledge sealing their court settlement.
Cosby settled that sexual-abuse lawsuit for undisclosed terms in 2006.
“Like wow, this person hurt a family member of mine”, she says.
The museum said it was aware of the recent revelations about Cosby and that it “in no way condones this behaviour”, but said the exhibition was about the artworks and not their owners.
The motion comes after USA District Judge Eduardo Robreno unsealed excerpts from Cosby’s deposition this week in response to an Associated Press request, concluding that the public had a right to see “the stark contrast” between Cosby the public moralist and the statements he made under oath about his lifestyle and conduct. Cosby has repeatedly denied the allegations. Sadly his own testimony offers PROOF of bad deeds, which is ALL I have ever required to believe the accusations.
“About Bill Cosby“, Scott wrote to her Twitter followers.
But the museum says the exhibition is fundamentally about the artworks and the artists who created them, not about the owners of the collections.
Bruce Castor, a former suburban Philadelphia prosecutor who declined to bring charges in the Constand case a decade ago, said Tuesday that Cosby’s admission about giving quaaludes to women he wanted sex with didn’t amount to evidence of a crime.
