For iPhone 6s, two Chinese men try to sell kidney
In 2011, a teenager from Hunan, central China, known as Zheng, sold his kidney to the black market for some 22,000 Yuan to buy himself a new iPhone and iPad. And one person writing on the NetEase news portal sees nothing wrong with the initiative, describing the sperm banks’ methods as “very creative”. How about selling a kidney.
According to China daily, two men named Wu and Huang contacted an agent to sell their kidneys illegally, but the man didn’t show up. He asked them to get a checkup at a hospital in Nanjing so he could be assured that the organs being offered in exchange for cash, were in healthy working condition. Wu told his friend, Huang, to abort the plan but Huang did not pay heed. He even tried calling the police.
The men, identified as Huang and Wu, of the Jiangsu province, reached out to an illegal organs agent to raise money in order to afford the highly anticipated smartphone by Apple.
Two other men in Hubei, central China, also decided to have their kidneys sold in order to afford the new phone.
They were said to be in debt before they arrived in the city and, after a failed organ transaction, became desperate. Huang may have stood to profit from trapping his friend by tempting him with an iPhone 6s, but Wu managed to evade the plot.
Donors needs to be over 5 foot 5, have an university education and has no diseases or medical conditions.
“As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6S Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the pre-order period”, Apple wrote in a statement.
Sperm banks are not allowed to publish actual recruitment advertisements so they are trying to find donors via social media.
