Culture shock for Brit jihadist
In a weird online rant, one Brit who fled to join ISIS and spread terror across the globe, has attacked what he sees as a rude and obnoxious people – his own fellow terrorists.
Their poor driving skills and odd inclination towards staring at people also came under fire.
Hussain, a former supermarket security guard, moaned about his Syrian and other Arab colleagues in a blog post.
On table manners, he says, “Every day one of us would be appointed to serve the food, and when it was my turn, I entered the room with a handful of spoons and a bucket full of boiled eggs; and as soon as I entered, I was pounced upon on by everyone in the room”.
In his blog, which he writes under the name Abu Saeed al Britani (The Britishman), Hussain exhorted potential Islamic State recruits to be aware of the culture clash between Western and Middle Eastern values. It is not the first time that the 27-year-old has complained about his life in Syria as an IS terrorist.
‘Arabs as a whole have a unique culture, which differs dramatically from the western lifestyle, ‘ he wrote.
Hussain has previously grumbled about being forced to peel potatoes without a peeler, having difficulties doing laundry and not managing to find a wife, the Telegraph reported. “The difference between an Arab and a non-Arab in their manners are like the difference between the heavens and the earth”, he said. Children who stare don’t bother him but Hassan said, “it can be quite uncomfortable to have a fully grown man stand a few meters away from you staring at you”.
The 27-year-old, who has also bemoaned his “lonely” life in the caliphate, has now turned his attention to “peculiar and annoying Arabs” in Syria.
He said his Arab colleagues would rummage through his belongings without asking and “they see no issue in unplugging your mobile phone to charge their own phone, even if it is your own charger”. His rant includes sweeping generalisations about Arabs, and Syrians in particular.
He also said they took his phone of the charger.
He said it can be “quite irritating” to then have to wait for them to return.
Omar Hussain has complained that fellow militants lack manners.
Omar Hussain is one of 700 individuals who have travelled to the region to join the extremist group, according to the BBC.
British jihadist and bodybuilder Imran Khawaja, was nicknamed “Barbie” and complained of not having moisturiser and toilet paper while in Syria.
