Terrifying Boat Chase With Whales on Their Tail
Orca whales, which are actually from the dolphin family, travel and hunt in pods which can consist of up to thirty whales.
While fishing off the coast of San Diego on Thursday, two fisherman had a terrifying encounter with a lively pod of killer whales.
But it wasn’t fast enough as some of the orcas were able to catch up to them and jump alongside the little boat, giving the fishermen real fright.
They were approximately 5 miles off Point Loma when the pod of orcas approached the boat. Both men managed to make it safely back to land.
The orcas noticed them too, and they swam right up to the boat and kept up with it at full-speed.
The video has some pretty cool footage above and below the water of these incredible hunters.
The men believe there were around 30 killer whales in the group, and though they rarely attack humans, reports the Independent, the boat could have easily been flipped over. The best part in the video comes after the 1 minute and 20-second mark when you can clearly see a whale jumping out of the water – just a few feet away from the boat.
