Square Enix announces ‘Kingdom Hearts HD II.8’ at Tokyo Game Show
The game will include high-definition remasters of three Kingdom Hearts titles: Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2. Square Enix has yet to announce an official release date, but the Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is slated to hit the PlayStation 4 in 2016. Apparently we were wrong about the name, but as speculated this newly-announced game will indeed directly lead right into the events of Kingdom Hearts III.
Just last week, a LinkedIn account hinted that a possible “Kingdom Hearts” prologue game is on the way.
Whether this means we still have quite a wait to go until Kingdom Hearts III shall remain a mystery for the time being (here’s hoping that’s not the case).

It turns out that the Kingdom Hearts 2.9 leaks prior to TGS were correct, sort of. Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover is a whole new movie that will tell the story behind the Foretellers which is connected to the series’ early history.
Either way, Branden, Churro and Sabrina have fun on the show discussing the rumours regarding Kingdom Hearts 2.9 that began surfacing. The game will be exclusively available on the PlayStation 4, indicating that Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) powerhouse is still the best place to play Kingdom Hearts.
A remaster of the Kingdom Hearts game originally for the Nintendo 3DS. They are, however, set to release a new gameplay trailer promoting the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 title this November at the D23 Expo in Japan hosted by Disney.
