Eli Manning takes blame for New York Giants’ loss to Dallas
“Jason’s obviously a special player”. “I’m sick right now,” Justin Pugh said. “He’s the best”. When it boils down to it, there were many at fault for New York’s epic loss, and it is good to know there are many people willing to take blame for it.
Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant had surgery on his broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot on Monday, according to sources. They all had their downs, but they most certainly had their ups.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie returned a fumble 57 yards for a touchdown, and the Giants had to go just a yard for their other TD after Trumaine McBride’s interception. Even if they thought the Cowboys were out of timeouts, they should have just focused on scoring a touchdown to take a 30-20 lead. Manning threw the ball away with all his receivers covered instead of falling down and letting 40 seconds run off the clock.
Jennings appeared on SI Now on Tuesday and said he would not backtrack from his comments, but that he still placed full confidence in Manning. So he believed the Giants could run more time off the clock.
And Manning echoed his sentiment, saying, “That’s 100 percent on me”.
Eli Manning admitted Monday that it was his idea not to allow Rashad Jennings to score against the Dallas Cowboys. He scored a career high 16 touch downs, and ran 15 yards on average. Sure Pryor is not your typical wide receiver however he is a great athlete and overall player. “You can tell he’s very poised and you definitely don’t want the ball in his hands in the final two minutes. But whenever that’s the case, the defense has to step up”.
Manning also made a mistake when he told running back Rashad Jennings not to score on consecutive carries before the third-down pass. Coughlin said that order didn’t come from coaches. The added reps with Tony Romo should be a benefit for Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley and Devin Street as the Cowboys begin preparations for life without Dez. He played in 13 games in 2012, finishing with 53 catches for 692 yards and three touchdowns. The first time was in the first half because of dehydration. The problem was Manning didn’t realize Dallas did not use a timeout with 1:54 when the Giants declined a penalty after a first-down pass to Odell Beckham Jr. Romo dropped the snap and still had enough time to find Witten for the winning score.
There is a lot that can happen with this offense in the coming weeks, but whatever they do, the decision better come quickly because the team has to visit the “City of Brotherly Love” in Week 2 when they face the Philadelphia Eagles.
