Lane Bryant Celebrates Fashion Equality with The Debut Of #PlusIsEqual Campaign
Yesterday, Lane Bryant, the nation’s leader in fashion for women sizes 14 to 28, celebrated the debut of the brand’s newest Fall ’15 campaign, #PlusIsEqual. “#PlusIsEqual is showing that curvy women are accepted, they’re represented and being made a priority in the fashion industry”.
Taking over a double page spread in the fashion glossy’s biggest issue of the year, we saw a black and white image with the silhouettes of a group of women, boasting all different shapes and sizes. The comprehensive advertising message unveiled nationwide and included a rally in the heart of Times Square, featuring TV personalities Brad Goreski and Wendy Williams, American Track and Field Athlete Amanda Bingson, the Brooklyn United Marching Band, and famed dance group Pretty Big Movement. “Size shouldn’t matter when you’re talking about a woman who just wants to be fashionable”, said Ashley. “Add your voice and join us in calling for equal representation”.
‘I’m thankful to be a part of such an impactful movement’. “I think it’s time to represent all kinds of women”, says the voiceover. “Proud, strong, fashion-forward, stylish, super awesome-everyone deserves to be celebrated”.
You might remember that mystery advertisement in the September 2015 issue of Vogue with the #PlusIsEqual tag and the simple message, “It’s time for a change”.
Heasley continued by saying although 67% of women range in size 14-24, the media still fails to represent them.
