Ryan Adams announces release date for Taylor Swift cover album
It’s hard to improve upon something so many people already consider almost ideal (bye, “Welcome to New York”, you awful blight on an otherwise great album), and if we’re being completely honest, Taylor Swift doesn’t exactly need any more promo than she already has.
Now Adams has confirmed the release date, album artwork, and the first song to be released – and it’s coming very soon. “Ryan Adams is one of the artists who shaped my songwriting”, Swift told Entertainment Weekly in August.
Remember how we all collectively gasped, grew excited, and then utterly confused when unsuspecting Taylor Swift stan Ryan Adams announced that he was recording a cover album of 1989?
The first track off Adams’ 1989, “Bad Blood“, debuted Thursday on Beats 1 Radio. He also sent out a photo of the album art.
Lowe also announced that Adams’ 1989 will be available for pre-order on iTunes beginning at midnight tonight. Adams has form in unusual covers, recently bowing to the inevitable and covering his near-namesake Bryan Adams’ Summer of 69. Any rumours that he was not serious about completing his endeavour were put to rest when he posted regular video updates with snippets of his Swift covers.
