Apple: Tech giant launches news app with iOS 9
Android users awarded the app 1.8 stars only and branded it as garbage.
With the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus releasing next Friday, and iOS 9 already available to users, Apple is doing everything it can to turn the spotlight onto its products.
Anyway, while it’s interesting that Apple’s first Android app is one that makes it easier to move from Android to an iPhone, it’s also noteworthy that Apple has finally released any app for Android. The latest version of iOS supports iPhone 4S and above, iPad 2 and above, all iPad mini models, and iPod touch fifth-generation. iOS 9 brings a slew of new features promising better battery life, poweful search and improved security.
iOS 9 is now available to download and weighs in at 1.2GB, which should make the process of updating your iOS devices less time consuming. If a message asks to temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel.
If you’d rather not spell colour like “color”, then head to your phone’s Language & Region settings and switch the language to English (United Kingdom).
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, joked at Apple’s event last week the creation of the app was just the “neighborly thing to do”.
Migrating your important content from an Android device to an iDevice is what Move to iOS has been built to do. “I do not appreciate this one bit especially since the app is not up to Material Design standards”, said Google Play user Justin Vanpop. It’ll even help you transfer over mobile apps.
If you want to upgrade through iTunes, connect your device to a computer using a USB cable.
Google, on the other hand, does not really care – it works on the safe basis that anyone who moves to iOS will be back when they realise they are paying more for less.
It is really a whole new experience with the iOS 9 pulling the articles from a wide array of different sources, and what’s more, these stories are those you like to read.
