Doctor Who and Emmerdale actress Jenna Coleman to play Queen Victoria
It has been confirmed that Jenna Coleman will be leaving “Doctor Who” during this series, which kicks off tomorrow (19.09.15) night.
Simon RidgwayITV has confirmed the casting of Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman in a major new drama series about the young Queen Victoria who went on to rule for 63 years.
It seems that a stopped clock is indeed right twice a day.
Jenna Coleman will play Queen Victoria in a new ITV drama after quitting Doctor Who. “I’ve filmed my last scenes”.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show on Friday morning (September 18th), Coleman said that her three year stint on the ever-popular BBC One show was coming to an end “at some point this season”.
Having made her first appearance on the long-running BBC series in 2012, Coleman said that her final days on set were “emotional”, but that her exit had “been in the works for a very long time”.
She told Grimshaw: “I have left the Tardis, it’s happened already”.
‘We sat down previous year and worked a really good story arc out so hopefully people will love it.
Clara’s demise occurs when she travels with the Doctor and their friend Rigsy to a secret alien world hidden within the streets of London, reports the Daily Mirror.
She will play Queen Victoria from the age of 18 as she ascends to the throne. The £10million ITV drama is by the same producers behind Poldark and is penned by novelist Daisy Goodwin.
She said: “I am about to start work on Queen Victoria“.
“I think I’m in denial”, added Coleman.
‘It’s been so much fun, I loved it, it’s been really special’. She stayed on board the TARDIS for all of Peter Capaldi’s episodes to date and after filming for the last series finished, Peter commented, ‘Jenna has been absolutely brilliant.
