Mourinho delighted with return of ‘winning feeling’
Jose Mourinho has confirmed Chelsea will be without Willian and most probably Pedro too for Saturday’s crucial Premier League game against Arsenal.
Chelsea eased to a 4-0 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in its opening Group G match in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. “We know the situation in the league so we’ll flip straight back to that and we know this is a huge game”, Cahill said.
Jose Mourinho has told his critics to remember he is a “fantastic manager” – despite Chelsea’s underwhelming start to the season.
One player that will be hoping for action against Arsenal is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who impressed Mourinho in the win over Maccabi.
“I can imagine after a defeat how hard it would be for everyone, especially two days before a game against Arsenal”. He has the support of his manager as well, which is clearly exemplified by the fact that he has made the direct jump to the first-team without going out on loan.
The early kick off on Saturday sees Chelsea host rivals Arsenal in the standout tie of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures. “I’m happy with the performance”, Mourinho said.
“I prefer to have problems because players have good performances”.
Their manager Slavisa Jokanovic, a former Chelsea midfielder, conceded: “Welcome to the Champions League, it is not the Israeli Premier League. Champions of England.” Mourinho oozed confidence despite his side’s poor form and insisted his own mood was good. “Nothing.” Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic who is set to make his Champions League bow in the continued absence of Thibaut Courtois backed his manager.
“We’ve been waiting 11 years to arrive here”. “I have done so many good things for Chelsea, but now I am the man with the bad results, but give me the responsibility and I will sort this out”.
Though the visitors had the odd chance to get on the scoresheet, they weren’t clinical enough in the final third and Costa put the game beyond doubt with a well taken volley, while Cesc Fabregas rounded off a Chelsea counter-attack to complete the scoring. “They dominated us, but we will learn”. “But the fact is that we wanted to test ourselves at the highest level which will mean we will also play better opponents”.
