Xur is no longer dropping guaranteed weapons in Destiny: The Taken King
Activision released the latest expansion of its co-op shooting game Destiny a few days back and according to the publisher “The Taken King” has set a new day-one downloads record on PlayStation Network. “For many a Guardian, the pinnacle activity of The Taken King’s player experience still beckons”, the studio says about the upcoming raid.
Bungie has confirmed that Xur will no longer be a community loot drop, instead selecting either a specific Exotic Weapon or Exotic Engram to go on sale each week.
Based on Bungie’s description posted on the Xbox One United Kingdom website, the Three of Coins is known as a “stackable effect that increases the chances the next Ultra you defeat will drop an Exotic Engram”. Xur will sell a Legacy Engram every week and inside this Legacy Engram will be a Year One Exotic with Year One Attack and Defense levels, with the exception of the Vex Mythoclast and the Necrochasm.
This week’s appearance from Xur is going to be extra special, as it is the first Xur since The Taken King expansion launched.
As Xûr has said during his debut of Taken King exotics via Destiny’s Instagram, “My will is not my own, Guardian”, so should players be upset with the trader’s new policies, they should take it up with Bungie, as the developers are the ones pulling the strings.
What do you think about Xur only selling one new exotic item per week during Year 2 of Destiny? Both Destiny: The Taken King and the Legendary Edition are available at thousands of retail stores around the world and also are available for digital download.
