Texas Tech game almost sold out
Depth at linebacker isn’t imminently going to get better. With the loss of wide receiver Keon Hatcher for at least six weeks, quarterback Brandon Allen’s primary target on the perimeter is gone.
Hollister was expected to see more playing time following Hatcher’s injury, so his reps will move down the line to other wideouts such as Damon Mitchell and Kendrick Edwards behind starters Jared Cornelius and Drew Morgan. Touted as the biggest in the nation, professional or college, last season, the unit was solid at creating space for an Arkansas running attack that had two 1,000-yard rushers.
“He’s phenomenal”, Texas Tech Coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
Texas Tech last played in Fayetteville in October 1990.
Red Raider defenses have been bad for a long time; this has not been a new development under Coach Kingsbury.
Spurrier, asked about scheduling during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference, questioned whether strength of schedule is much of a factor in the end, and conceded a team’s record is how they’re ultimately judged. “We’ll have it fixed”. Collins remains to fill the void left by Williams and the junior had his best rushing performance last season against Texas Tech. “So we just do the best we can, we’ve got our biggest scout guys in there giving the best look they can, but you can’t simulate that”.
Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos noted Monday that the offense powered between the 20s with regularity against Toledo.
“You get what you emphasize”, Pittman said.
“Our players, more than anything, realized on Saturday that you just can’t show up and throw the helmet on the field and expect to have success”, he said. Last week, Toledo forced them to have to throw the ball which didn’t sit well with Arkansas Head Coach Bret Bielema. The point is, things got wild.
He also discounted the fact that Arkansas will have added incentive to win this game after losing in week two to Toledo. “We’re ready to get out there”. “I’m not gonna pull [an] Arkansas coach”.
Now he gets his chance, though it should be without fanfare, receivers coach Michael Smith said. “Whatever it takes, however long it takes, as long as we get in the end zone”, he explained. “Obviously it is a no-huddle that can be greatly affected by the volume of attendance, so I hope we get some help there”.
