NASA Infographic Tells Us Exactly What Will Happen to Scott Kelly’s Body
We know you’re far too busy to go up into space (how would you find time to do your homework?) but Story Time From Space and Lost My Name are launching a competition where you can win the next best thing.
Aside from poop and urine, NASA’s infographic also shared some interesting facts about Kelly’s “Year in Space”.
As part of the media day, two actors from the movie, Sebastian Stan and Mackenzie Davis, were toured around NASA, given a chance to ride on a Modular Robotic Vehicle (a kind of precursor to a new lunar and Mars rover); sat inside a mock-up of the Orion capsule that could someday carry astronauts to the moon and beyond; and got to speak by videoconference to astronauts Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren, who are aboard the worldwide Space Station.
Kelly will see 10944 sunrises during his one year in space.
Kelly will be conducting around 383 experiments during his one year in space. Astronaut Scott Kelly has officially reached the midpoint of his #YearInSpace mission.
NASA has also cited that Kelly, while in space for 365 days, is going to produce 730 liters of recycled urine and sweat.
In a report by The Huffington Post, it said that an astronaut’s dump gets dumped and “will burn up in the atmosphere and look like shooting stars”.
Kelly will have run 648 miles on the specialized treadmill installed on the ISS. And if he runs that much on Mars, it will take Kelly more than 216,000 years.
The White House is behind the move to send your notes to Kelly. Once there, an astronaut will read it to us earthlings down below.
