Man arrested at Texas airport after crashing through gates, attempting to
On Thursday, September 17, the man whose identity is still not known, crashed his vehicle through the security gate of a runway at Waco Regional Airport, just to steal a jet.
The Waco Police officer drew nearer the suspect, who was equipped with a stick and declined to participate with the officer’s guidelines.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon at Waco Regional Airport, when a white male in a auto crashed through a security gate and tried to steal a Learjet, according to Waco Police Sargent Patrick Swanton, reported KTWX. The statement says the man was seen removing the tire chocks and trying to enter the aircraft.
Police said the officer tazed the suspect after he did not respond to commands to stop and had to physically restrain him with help from the Texas Aero employees.
The suspect, who has not been named, was repeatedly tasered by a police officer working as airport security as he tried to storm a Learjet plane, police say.
Police said the man received several shocks from a stun gun but it had no effect.
Airport employees saw the officer struggling with the man and came to assist. The officer unsuccessfully used a Taser before he handcuffed the man. He was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation, police said.
The suspect’s name will be released once he is booked into jail.
Police think the man may also have been under the influence of narcotics, he said.
The suspect faces charges of Criminal Trespass, Attempted Theft, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest.
Waco Police said it notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Transportation Security Administration, which may file additional charges.
