Megan Fox joining New Girl during Zooey Deschanel’s maternity leave

I cant imagine what the look on Schmidts face will be when she shows up.

The Transformers actress, who got her start on ABC sitcom Hope & Faith, will appear in multiple episodes as pharmaceutical sales rep who rents out Jess’ (Deschanel) room during a long business trip. Following news that the original manic-pixie-dream-girl would sit out a few episodes for her real-life pregnancy, New Girl Season 5 has made every Schmidt’s dream come true in adding Megan Fox to the loft. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – shes the flawless person to come in and shake these guys up.

“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so amusing , but I guess we just all have to accept it”, New Girl creator/executive producer Liz Meriwether said in a statement.

But she won’t be making her debut until the sixth episode in the season, which won’t premiere until January.

Deschanel will bow out of the show temporarily during the upcoming season on maternity leave, having given birth to her first daughter with husband Jacob Pechenik in August.

For Fox, this is a long-awaited return to television after nearly a decade away from the silver screen.

New Girl has a new girl – and it’s quite a big name. Last seen in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fox will next reprise her role of April ONeil for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell and James Francos all-star comedy drama Zeroville. Season five guest stars include Fred Armisen, Taran Killam, Nasim Pedrad, Rob Riggle, John Cho, Julie Hagerty, and Henry Winkler.
