Comedian Nicole Arbour defends ‘fat shaming’ video on The View

Canadian comedian Nicole Arbour of “Dear Fat People” fame went on “The View” today to defend her pro-fat-shaming video, and the co-hosts were – to put it mildly – none too impressed with her defenses.

She is the epitome of unbothered, which she made more than clear on The View this week.

Goldberg said, “No, no, babe, you’re here, this is your shot”.

“If we offend you so much that you lose weight, I’m okay with that”.

To which Arbour replied: Absolutely. “One hundred percent! That video was made to offend people just the way I do with all the other videos”.

I thought satire was supposed to be amusing .

She said the topic was actually voted in by her fans, who asked her to address it. “They can make fun of everything and I would rather be the guy who’s in “Entourage” … than be topless girl No. 3″.

“I’m a comic so if I’m going to make a joke about a fat person, I’m going to say I’m fat first. We don’t like that”.

But Arbour was unapologetic and spoke about it being fair game to make fun of anyone with no limitations, People reports.

While the majority of The View hosts said they were personally offended by the rant, Whoopi Goldberg said there is no line in comedy, but there are consequences, and the worldwide backlash is Arbour’s outcome .

As you can imagine, it was an extremely awkward affair, with Arbour flipping between claiming the whole thing was a joke and pushing herself and her “satire” and her own “brand” while everyone else on the panel has a go at her in different ways.

Arbour responds by saying, “It’s not bullying if you came to me”.
