Rand Paul adviser says Marco Rubio staffer punched him in the face
Beeson missed a full on shot but still struck Yob in the face with a powerful blow near the jaw.
A Michigan political blogger named Brandon Hall published a post Friday in which he claimed to have seen the Horn’s Bar incident. “He literally physically assaulted me by punching me in the face”. Marco Rubio’s (R-Florida) campaign threw a punch during a scuffle the night before.
An officer at the Mackinac Island Police Department early Friday would neither confirm nor deny that the incident took place.
Several Republican candidates have assembled in the mitten-shaped state for the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference run by the state’s GOP.
Neither campaign has made a statement about the kerfuffle as of yet.
Rand Paul’s national political director John Yob recounted the barroom brawl on Facebook in a 2:00 AM post.
In a follow-up post, Yob called on Rubio to immediately fire Beeson. “We are not now seeking Mr. Beeson”, Mackinac Island Police Chief Brett Riccinto tells Breitbart News. Marco Rubio’s (R., Fla.) presidential campaign and did not fight back. It has been forwarded to the Mackinac County prosecutor for review.
The Rubio campaign confirmed that the two knew each other from before.
For someone who is apparently irrelevant in the political world, Yob gives Beeson more credit than he deserves.
The Michigan Republican Party’s conference begins Friday afternoon with a reception on the Grand Hotel’s famous front porch followed by opening remarks by Gov. Rick Snyder at 4:45 p.m. Rand Paul’s chief strategist in Michigan, John Yob, said that he was out at Horn’s Bar Thursday night when Marco Rubio’s deputy campaign manager, Rich Beeson, attacked him.
Rubio now ranks fifth out of 16 GOP presidential candidates, with 5.3 percent, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of national polls. According to the email exchange, Sullivan at first believed Yob was joking but then apologizes when he realizes Yob is serious.
Contrary to original reports, Michigan State Police are not involved in the investigation into the Rubio aide’s actions.
