David De Gea : I am returning to Manchester for training
London, July 6th (IANS) Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea will return to Manchester United pre-season training when he returns from his holiday in Madrid.
The Old Trafford club have had a £35m bid rejected for the central defender by Real Madrid as he we look forward to the transfer drama surrounding the future of De Gea and Ramos. However, he does not appear likely to agree terms.
The Spanish daily claim that Ramos’s decision is not about money and he is no longer interested in negotiating a new deal with Madrid, as he has his heart set on a new challenge. Louis van Gaal’s undying determination to sign the defender has put United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward against Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in a rather trying spot.
United has offered a £28.6-million deal to Ramos, 29, who reportedly wants to leave Real following failed talks regarding an extension of his contract that ends in 2017, BBC Sports reported.
Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta plays against his squad’s rival, Real Madrid, often several times per season, domestically and sometimes overseas in the Champions League.
The coming days promise to be busy for Van Gaal and his staff. United head to the United States next week and will want to have most of the summer’s business concluded ahead of the pre-season match schedule. This is due to Real’s wish to sign De Gea to replace Iker Casillas as their No1 goalkeeper.
The Red Devils are adamant that if De Gea leaves for Real, the La Liga giants must allow Ramos to move in the opposite direction for an agreeable price. Koscielny won less aerial battles and tackles per game than Ramos in their respective leagues last season but made more interceptions per 90 minutes – 3.66 compared to Ramos’ 2.60.
