Wisconsin DMV reveals new driver license design
The state of Wisconsin is introducing new driver’s licenses and identification cards later this month that officials believe are more secure.
The DOT said the new cards are made of polycarbonate, and are laser-engraved to prevent fraud and identity theft.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says background images and the see through border on the new pictures in the bottom corner make the state’s newest driver’s license tough to copy.
Perry says customers will not notice any difference in the process, or cost, of obtaining a license.
MADISON, Wis. (MEDIA RELEASE) -The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin issuing new driver licenses (DL) and identification (ID) cards this fall.
The new cards will start appearing in late September, with complete integration by November 1. “The photo on them is laser engraved so if you try to tamper with it, will dissolve the card”, Perry said. “We hope to have the entire state on the new driver licenses by the end of October”.
The procedure for getting the cards at the DMV remains the same.
The stiffer cards have UV artistic renditions of the Wisconsin State Capitol building and Wisconsin flag.
You can hold on to your current license until it expires.
The new drivers licenses are already being distributed, but people don’t need to get a new one until their regular renewal date. Once it is time to renew, you will be given the new version.
