Verizon Version of Nextbit Robin Confirmed
(NYSE:VZ) on board, and is putting forth Verizon clients a select reward.
Kickstarter’s darling device, the Robin from Nextbit, now supports Verizon. (NYSE:T) and T-Mobile US Inc. The company has venture capital, and it will be building its phones at Foxconn, which are all good signs when you’re talking about phone start-ups, PCMag’s Sascha Segan pointed out.
Nextbit CEO Tom Moss has told CNET that a version of the Robin that works with Verizon will be available through the device’s Kickstarter campaign at 10:00 am PT/1:00 pm ET on Friday, September 18. As for pricing, Nextbit says the first 300 units will be available for $299 after which its Kickstarter price will go up to $349.
In a recent announcement, Nextbit said that it is adding a Verizon model of its cloud-centric “Robin” smartphone to its hugely successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the handset. Now even more people can get in on the pre-order bonanza. An uncommon distributer pack containing 20 telephones and charging links can be requested for $6,950, for those willing to take a wager on the imaginative cell phones.
The company has also launched a competition to find a new colour for the sleek smartphone, which is now only available in Mint and Midnight. Download the Robin Photoshop file and “design your dream Robin color scheme”. Once voting ends, backers will be able to vote among five of the top colors to choose what the next offering will be.
