Android Marshmallow sample apps arrive
The only catch here is that the Now on Tap feature will only work with Android M Developer Preview 3, which was released last month.
During Google’s annual I/O Developers Conference, it was revealed that biometrics will be natively supported by Android 6.0, erstwhile labelled as Android M. Confirmed as the first biometric feature of the new mobile OS is a fingerprint scanner, which like its counterpart in the Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy flagships is chiefly designed to robustly secure an Android device while making it easy for users to unlock the same.
Google Now on Tap will officially debut with the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow later this fall, but those impatient enough to give it a spin are in for some good news. Google is likely testing Now on Tap prior to launching it later this year.
Android Direct Share. Using the APIs provided by the feature, users can share content within one app to a contact, using for example, a social media app. Just like any other version, we can expect majority of the Android apps will be updated with the fluffy Marshmallow in mind. However, Direct Share also allows users to share to specific targets, and demonstrates this by adding contacts directly in the chooser dialog. When a user shares some text from another app, this sample app will be listed as an option.
Meanwhile, the two other MIDI apps will allow Android devices to interact with MIDI devices.
Sample app 2 – This sample demonstrates how to use the MIDI API to receive and play MIDI messages coming from an attached input device (MIDI keyboard).
To recall, the Now on Tap feature is a big improvement to Google Now as it provides contextual information within an app itself.
As noted by the site, the transition to Android M on Nexus 5, 6 and 9 may not seem as major as it did when Android Lollipop landed, but most definitely fans can enjoy really neat features including app data backup done automatically, Google Now on Tap and even improved battery life amongst others.
