The Witness will frazzle brains in January 2016
“As it happens, the game we’ve finally built is around 10 times as big as that”.
The Witness, the new game from Braid creator Jonathan Blow, will launch for PS4 and PC on January 26, the man himself has announced.
The follow-up to indie mega-hit Braid, Blow claims The Witness is a much larger game, with over 70 hours of gameplay for players to explore. The Witness will initially release on PlayStation 4 before coming to other platforms once the timed exclusivity deal expires.
Obviously the narrative could make the experience totally worth it, but the trailer does make it look like a pretty standard puzzle game that takes place on a really pretty set. Blow has described The Witness as “an exploration-puzzle game on an uninhabited island”. Solved puzzles open doors, uncover cryptic maps and guide you to new areas. “For people who don’t want to go quite that far, the game’s still got plenty for you”, Blow said in the post. He needed to correct his past statement by clarifying that the project had grown drastically, and players can now expect to play for anywhere from 80-100 hours to complete and find everything hidden throughout the world.
