‘Game of Thrones’ gets three new members
Sam was essentially forced to join the Night’s Watch by his father, who believed that his oldest son was a disappointment, and not a worthy heir to House Tarly.
After a source leaked the news to fansite Watchers On The Wall, HBO has now officially confirmed that James Faulkner, Samantha Spiro and Rebecca Benson will join John Bradley-West as the rest of the Tarly clan in the new series.
Faulkner will play Sam’s father, Randyll Tarly.
When Ian McShane was cast in an unspecified secret role in Game Of Thrones’ sixth season last month, there was some speculation that he might be playing Randyll Tarly, Samwell’s father.
Spiro will portray Sam’s mother, Melessa Florent. Will she be able to play an “adoring mother” with “a soft spot for one of her children?”
Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” (GoT) is much anticipated, despite being a year away. She’s done Shakespeare (including as Lady MacBeth in a 2014 version), sitcoms (Coupling), and played everyone from Lucille Ball to Katherine Hepburn to Amelia Earhart on Psychobitches, a British series in which famous women from history undergo psychotherapy. Based on the source material, Sam has three sisters; among these siblings, only the eldest sister has been named- Talla Tarly.
“Game of Thrones” season 6 premieres on HBO in the spring, and as mentioned many times, the story right now is a mystery given that Martin’s books are, with a few exceptions, around the same place as where we are at on the show.
“Game of Thrones” is now filming in Girona, Spain and the production in the city is expected to wrap up this week.
