Topical Depression Nine Forms In Central Atlantic
The system is drifting to the north-northwest at 8 miles per hour and is expected to continue moving in this direction with little change in strength. A turn to the northwest is forecast on Thursday night. This system will have no impact on Florida.
Tropical Depression #9 has formed in the Central Atlantic Ocean from a tropical low we had been watching since the weekend.
According to AccuWeather Meteorologist Becky Elliot, “This system will track farther west than Tropical Depression Nine”. Forecast data shows this system encountering a hostile environment as it moves west-northwestward.
At 11 a.m., the National Hurricane Center confirms the center of Tropical Depression Nine was located near latitude 15.0 north and longitude 43.1 west.
While its circulation has soldiered on, I do not expect this system to redevelop into Tropical Storm Grace.
There are no costal watches or warnings in effect at this time. “This system has about another 24 to 48 hours to become better organized before succumbing to wind shear and dry, stable air”.
Even if the system does organize high pressure that will build over Texas during the next day or two should keep most of the moisture associated with Invest 94L to the south of us.
