Officials say Boston body was girl named Bella
Rachelle Bond was involved with the DFC twice, according to a spokesperson, for cases of neglect in 2012 and 2013.
He added that officials are taking witnesses in front of a grand jury. The child is believed to have been around 3-years-old when she died.
However, none of them said they made a connection between the girl’s absence and the investigation.
Detective Inspector Greg Hutchins said the items found along with the girl’s body all dated from about 2006 or 2007, suggesting she was mostly likely born around 2005 and could have been killed anytime between 2007 and a year ago. The official spoke today on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release details of the investigation.
Police chased down tips from around the world, but experts determined pollen on the girl’s blanket and leggings and in her hair came from trees found in New England. She said state police showed up at her home and started questioning her about her neighbor’s daughter.
The little girl whose remains were found wrapped in a plastic trash bag on Deer Island near Boston, Massachusetts, known as “Baby Doe“, have been identified, 5 Investigates reports.
“They are a number, we don’t want them to be a number”, she said.
Her name was Bella, a child whose very name means beauty, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley said Friday.
“Baby Doe” is thought to be about 4 years old. The individual with knowledge of the said Bella and her mother have lived in unit 2 of the apartment complex for about two years, and said there had not been complaints regarding the unit.
Bella Bond’s case echos the ongoing mystery surrounding a girl’s remains found in South Australia in July.
Who and why would anyone leave a toddler’s body in a garbage bag along with a little zebra blanket?
“She said she didn’t want anybody taking her away from her, that she is trying her best to be the best parent that she can be”, Torres told the station.
A spokeswoman for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, Rhonda Mann, said the agency had been working with law enforcement to help police identify Baby Doe. “I think it’s our responsibility”.
Winthrop police would not comment on the broadcast reports. The charges against them were expected Friday, according to the network.
