Jon Beason: Jon Beason (knee) getting work on side field
The New York Giant’s linebacker Jon Beason had been out for the team’s second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a sprained knee. Giants coach Tom Coughlin mentioned prior to Thursday’s practice.
“Me personally, you decide to throw another football game into a week it shows they don’t really care about the players”, Beason said. “We’ll have an idea what’s going to happen there”.
Beason said he hopes to see a little action Sunday, with his backup, Uani’ Unga, continuing to shoulder the load. Last week he was able to practice but developed soreness that kept him out for the rest of the week and the regular-season opener against the Cowboys.
The New York Giants take their broken hearts to East Rutherford to take some vengeance out on the Atlanta Falcons.
To give us some insight into the Falcons and to get some big time answers on this big time game, I asked Blogging Dirty’s editor, Freddie Boston some questions. All Beason knows is that if he does get on the field Sunday, it won’t be for long. “That’s just how I feel.it is what it is…”
The 30-year-old Beason was listed as a limited participant in practice and appeared to be running without limitations in the short clip shared in the abovementioned report.
“(Other) guys can step in and play well, and if there’s some situational stuff where I can be used sparingly, that’d be great”, he said.
The Giants may lose again this week and the officials may miss a call that should go their way, but Fells won’t be involved in whatever winds up happening against the Falcons.
Coughlin himself said he prefers players who would rather be on the field than err on the side of caution. His participation should give the Giants a good look on whether Beason will be available on Sunday for the team’s home opener versus the Atlanta Falcons. “To think you have to play a game on Thursday, it’s tough”.
Fells’ foot injury could likely tip the balance of their timeshare within the New York Giants’ offense. “To think you have to play a game on Thursday, it’s tough”.
“You’d like to have more, but let’s face it, for the majority of the game, there wasn’t a lot of snaps”, Coughlin said. Cullen Jenkins, who started at defensive end last week, will move inside to tackle now that starter Markus Kuhn (knee) has been ruled out.
As a result, the Giants defense, which for three quarters didn’t play badly, ended up winded at the end, when things started to go downhill for them.
