A Diabolical ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Tricked Alex Trebek Into Saying Turd Ferguson

In Saturday Night Live’s hilarious “Celebrity Jeopardy” sketches starring Will Ferrell as a perpetually annoyed Alex Trebek, it’s the pseudonym chosen by Burt Reynolds during the game simply because it’s amusing .

Alex Trebek has done a lot of amusing things over his 31-year stint as the host of Jeopardy! – and majority have been completely unintentional.

Salon reached out to Norm MacDonald – the original “Turd Ferguson” – but he is, so far, mum on Lavin’s tribute to him.

Talia sacrificed $600 of her winnings to make the joke but she walked away with a whole slew of fans online.

“Trebek read her answer as the crowd laughed and people on social media went wild”, USA Today’s Mary Bowerman wrote. The character in the skit prefers to be called “Turd” because he thinks it’s amusing . We’ll never know whether she knew the correct answer (“Blame Canada”, from the film South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut), but her response was priceless!

As you can see in the video above, one contestant (and obvious comedy fan) decided to use Final Jeopardy to force Trebek to participate in a reference to that SNL bit.
