‘Doctor Who’ versus ‘Sherlock’? Keep dreaming, San Diego Comic-Con
The Doctor Who panel featured current Doctor Peter Capaldi, once-and-future companion Jenna Coleman, and longtime showrunner Steven Moffat – plus newcomer Michelle Gomez, who played the villainous Missy last season.
It sounds like Jenna’s character, Clara Oswald will turn out safe in season 9, but if she chooses to leave, will we see her death afterwards?
SAN DIEGO >> The star of BBC’s “Doctor Who” shocked fans late Wednesday night when he made a surprise visit to those waiting in line for the TV show’s panel at Comic-Con global.
The ninth series of Doctor Who is set to air on BBC One this Autumn.
Though she’ll only be making a guest appearance, fans have been contorting themselves (through time and relative displacements in space!) to figure out who she’ll be playing.
Unfortunately, executive producer Steven Moffat wouldn’t discuss any details regarding the character Williams plays. Until then, what do you think of the trailer?
We also got one more answer from Moffat on the possibility of a female Doctor, “There is no vacancy [at the moment]”. He responded that it would be either menoptra from Doctor Who, or Game of Thrones’ white walker. “I think I’ve expressed myself about as clearly as I could in the context of the show” he said, indicating Gomez. “This isn’t a new idea, by the way, the Master and the Doctor being friends”. That being said, watch the trailer, drool over it, and stay tuned for more convention news as we get it!
We see Daleks and Missy (The Master’s newest incarnation, you’ll recall from last season). “There’s a slightly different dynamic to her”, said Gomez. “I think it’s a change of perspective and the idea that life is short and I want to live it and feel it and feel alive”, said Coleman.
When asked if maybe Sherlock could ever show up on an episode of Doctor Who, Moffat seemed like he was very open to the idea.
