ISIS Sympathizers In India: four Males With Alleged Hyperlinks To Islamic
The central and state intelligence agencies have detained two youths who had been deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for being suspected supporters of the Islamic State (ISIS).
The youths, Anaz, 22, and Aromal, 23, natives of Kilimanoor in Thiruvananthapuram district and Adoor in Pathanamthitta district respectively, were grilled by central agencies, including NIA and RAW, and state agencies Special Branch and IB, after they alighted from the Dubai-Thiruvananthapuram Ethihad Airlines.
The four youth were detained on suspicion of posting propaganda material on social media.
However, sources said that the probe agencies failed to find any concrete evidence on their links with the IS. Those detained allegedly had been in contact with young people with the aim of recruiting them into the terrorist organization. However during the questioning nothing was found which linked them to the ISIS.
Two youths were taken into custody when they landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on an Etihad Flight Tuesday early morning.
The UAE authorities had come across certain pro-IS activities of these youths in the cyber space and subsequently they were tracked down and interrogated. Apart from the four, two other Keralites, were deported to Kochi last week and another woman, Afsha Jabeen, an online recruiter for the outfit, to Hyderabad.
Another batch of four people will be arriving soon, officials have told the Press Trust of India, saying that it was a sign of an increasing cooperation of the UAE with India in combatting terror.
To combat this, the Centre is now devising a training programme for the state police forces set to begin in the next three months, a senior Home Ministry official said.
