Honda unveils 2016 Civic small vehicle with sporty design
The first thing that drivers familiar with the Civic will notice is the overall redesign that the 2016 model has received.
The fuel efficiency should be a lot better on the 2017 Honda Civic and it has been said that it is going to bring with it plenty of new features.
Honda is also trying to move the Civic upmarket – after disparaging comments about low-rent interiors on the previous two iterations – with a one-piece, soft-touch instrument panel that has decorative stitching moulded-in, more luxurious upholstery fabrics, a centre console finished in piano black with a silver bezel and a 7.2-litre storage compartment, and door inserts with real live stitching (Honda’s words, not ours!).
2016 Honda Civic will come with galore of safety features. These variants will also include performance-oriented models and will be branded with either a Type R or a Si badge. There was a time when Civics ruled our ratings, but the last several years have seen the once-mighty Honda play second fiddle to the Mazda3, Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza, and Hyundai Elantra. The design has become more chiselled but nevertheless in terms of aesthetic value of the Civic, something seems to have gotten lost. “We’ll let you know when we buy ours for testing”. Its bland sheet metal, Spartan interior and ho-hum styling were good enough to keep the many Civic loyalists, but didn’t do much to pull in new buyers.
The new Civic will compete at Honda dealerships with the CR-V and HR-V small sport utility vehicles. Honda finally unwraps the 2016 Civic Sedan, heralded as the company’s most ambitious remake of Civic ever, and is slated to hit showrooms in the coming weeks in the U.S. Serra Honda, a Honda dealer serving the greater Birmingham area, is preparing drivers for the 2016 Honda Civic’s arrival date with an all new model page that explains numerous key features and changes that the vehicle has received. With that said, the Civic is an icon in the industry, and will always be one of Honda’s most compelling products. A slightly wider body could also mean more space inside the auto . CR-V sales jumped 10.9 percent to a record 335,019 in 2014 and are up 6 percent this year while Civic sales slid by 4 percent.
Some interesting claims that we’re hearing about the model state that it will be the first Civic to come with turbocharged options, so that might indicate that the company is trying to reposition the model in its market segment somewhat.
The new model will also be removing its multi-tiered dash and a 7-inch touchscreen display will be added as the new Pilot for the addition of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
