Moving wildfire that threatened homes fully contained

Mazzaferro said about 130 firefighters from several crews and departments battled the fire. The blaze has scorched more than 320 acres. “All evacuation orders have been lifted and all roads are open”. When firefighters initially responded, the fire was just 5- to 10-acres.

It’s about 30 percent contained Sunday morning as it burns near Solano State Prison.

The fire started around 10 p.m. Saturday, and wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour are fanning the flames, said Vacaville city spokesman Mark Mazzaferro.

KCRA-TV reports (http://apne.ws/1fd1gw5 ) that about 100 people have been evacuated in Vacaville.

Meanwhile, slightly cooler than expected temperatures and higher humidity have helped firefighters get a better handle on a massive fire burning in central Oregon about 11 miles south of Dayville, fire officials said Sunday. Streets along California Drive were also closed.

Fire officials have not yet determined the cause of the blaze.

“Eyewitnesses have told fire officials they saw someone using fireworks in the park shortly before the fire started, but the cause of the blaze is still under investigation”, Mazzaferro said.
