Shopify and Amazon Team up to Help Online Merchants Grow
Shopify announced that it been selected as the preferred migration provider for Amazon Webstore merchants. Under the terms of the collaboration between the two e-commerce companies, Shopify will integrate some of the Amazon’s features such as Login and Pay, Fulfillment, and Selling.
Additionally, Shopify will providing these merchants with tools and services to help grow their online businesses. Shopify will also provide support to assist in the store migrations.
“In a few steps, merchants can transfer their customer and product data – with zero downtime or service interruptions – and begin taking advantage of an extended 30-day free trial”, Shopify says in an announcement.
“Both Amazon and Shopify are leaders in ecommerce so it’s a natural fit that we would enable our retailers to seamlessly run their businesses across either platform”, said Harley Finkelstein, Shopify’s Chief Platform Officer.
For Shopify, the deal advances the company’s plans to let its customers sell goods on as many platforms as possible. Consumer shipping and payment information is stored with Amazon, providing quick and secure checkout on computers of mobile devices.
In early afternoon trading, Shopify’s stock was up $8.91 or 23.39 per cent at $47.
Shopify Inc. soared after the Canadian software maker teamed up with online retailing giant Amazon.com Inc.to help merchants create their own online stores. ( MXL ) was holding on to a big gain shortly before Thursday’s closing bell after analysts at Needham & Co. today raised their investment call for the networking equipment manufacturer’s shares to Buy from Neutral, also setting a $16 price target for the stock.
