Nikki Bella’s heat is flawless going into WWE Night of Champions
Monday night on Raw saw Nikki Bella defend her WWE Divas Championship against Charlotte, in a match that would determine whether or not Nikki Bella surpassed AJ Lee as the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion of all time.
That was before perennial heel and WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon entered the fray and ordered the decision to be reversed since Charlotte technically pinned Brie Bella and not Nikki. They were probably three of WWE’s most popular and successful Divas the company has ever seen.
There is already something about the way Nikki carries herself that rubs many the wrong way. Her championship run has not been one of excellence or respectability, it’s been one of arrogance and an overblown sense of self-entitlement.
Nikki isn’t exactly the favorite right now and like perhaps Seth Rollins, the WWE has done a great job drawing in critics and haters for her. But come WWE Night of Champions, all that could change for both WWE pets and hopefully, the rightful champions will be put in place. Fans pay their hard-earned money to watch the hero vanquish the villain.
That way, when good does triumph, it means more and elicits the desired reaction.
Nikki Bella made history last week by becoming the longest-recorded titleholder in the history of the WWE Divas Division, according to a September 17 post from Bleacher Report. But her ring skills pale in comparisons to Charlotte’s.
It is Storytelling 101, a pattern followed to a tee by everyone from legendary wrestling bookers to writers over at DC Comics.
Right now, WWE needs to engage with the fans, and the only way they can do that is by developing their current crop of Divas to the point where we’re all emotionally wrapped in each of their individual personas and stories.
After all, she is the heel. That isn’t a knock on her at all because she has really come on so much as an in ring competitor over the years, but when you weigh her achievements up against a Diva like Trish Stratus the two are not even in the same league.
All of that does not even cover the fact that Bella has improved mightily over the a year ago . She’s plastic, she’s phony and she cares more about the glamour than the gold. There will be something about the way WWE is portraying Nikki that will somehow be attributed to whom she shares her most intimate moments with.
