New Mary Poppins movie musical in the works

The production team is said to be in talks with the Travers estate and has got the support of the co-composer Richard Sherman who created the popular songs “Chim Cher-ee” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious“, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The cast of Walt Disney’s “Mary Poppins” movie has not yet been disclosed.

Disney has already adapted “Alice in Wonderland“, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Cinderella” into live action hits. Into the Woods earned $199 million worldwide and landed Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination.

In 2013, Saving Mr Banks, starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson, was released, with the plot centred on the development of the Mary Poppins film.
