Amazon unveils new Fire tablet for United States dollars 50
A lot of people are probably not too convinced by this unimpressive list of specs, but again, the Amazon Fire Tablet only costs $50, which is a pretty good price all things considered. It has a front-facing VGA and rear-facing 2Mp camera, and connects with a Mac or PC via USB 2.0. That’s right, tablet sales have fallen so hard that you can now buy a six-pack of them for around $250.
“Today, we’re taking another step in our mission to deliver premium products at non-premium prices”, said Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.
A pair of higher-end tablets has also been announced; the Fire HD 8 and HD 10, which both come with 8-inch and 10.1-inch screens respectively.
Amazon’s new OS is also improved and brings a much cleaner experience to the user.
The tablet will be available to pre-order in the US starting September 30th, though there’s now no word on a United Kingdom release.
A year after introducing its first “Kids Edition” tablet, Amazon has a new model, and this time it costs $50 less.
According to Amazon, the new Fire TV is 75% more powerful. And if you’re feeling generous, you can buy five tablets and get a sixth one absolutely free. It also has exclusive Amazon features and services, as you’d expect with it being an Amazon tablet.
“For this money, you will receive a tablet with a 7” IPS display, sporting a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, while under the hood it has a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, teaming up with 1 GB of RAM. Well you get the point. On Thursday, the online marketplace unveiled six new devices that will begin shipping in the coming weeks, including a fascinating Apple TV competitor. Like the Fire tablet, the HD series also packs a quad-core processor.
The Fire HD 8 is available to pre-order from $149 in both 8GB and 16GB storage options with a choice of four colors: black, orange, blue and pink.
Other services include X-Ray, which provides extra information relevant to the content being watched, and On Deck, which automatically provides the most up to date listings on Amazon Prime.
