Kobe Bryant is medically cleared for all basketball activities
A little less than a month ago, Bryant posted a photo on Instagram saying that he was back on the court shooting, and now it is being reported that Kobe is fully cleared for all basketball activities, according to Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report.
The 37-year-old suffered the injury while dunking in a late-January game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Bryant went down with a torn rotator last season requiring season-ending surgery and another long recovery process for the five-time National Basketball Association champion.
[See Kobe Bryant tells rookie D’Angelo Russell: “Let’s shock da world this season”]. He was medically cleared to play on Thursday, according to ESPN.
He fractured his right knee during the 2013-14 season, and played in only six games.
Before his injury, Kobe Bryant was on top of his game. For his career Kobe has averaged 36.5 minutes per game but this season that number will likely be in the 20’s. He has always prided himself on beating the medical comeback timetables, and now he’s all the way back ahead of this projected nine-month layoff, too. Bryant played in a total of 35 games.
“We also talked about everybody saying he wouldn’t be ready for training camp, he wouldn’t ready until November”. He has said he will decide after this season if this is to be his last.
He will become the first player to spend 20 seasons with one team, eclipsing the previous record of 19 seasons that was set by Jazz point guard John Stockton.
Bryant is highest paid player in the entire league for the upcoming season earning $25 million (AU $34.75 million) for the 2015-2016 season.
For sure, it will be a far different permutation of basketball heaven than Bryant has reached before.
