Everett Golson absolutely lays out a Boston College defender with block
The first two victories of the season, against a pair of Football Championship Subdivision opponents in Maine and Howard, did not serve as any kind of barometer for the Boston College football team.
Tonight’s FSU Seminoles vs Boston College game has a start time schedule of 8:00pm eastern time and airs on TV channel ESPN.
On defense, Boston College looks strong once again under Steve Addazio’s scheme. Unfortunately, Hilliman didn’t wrap the ball and it was stripped, allowing Jalen Ramsey to scoop it up and ramble 36 yards for what was, for all intents and purposes, the ballgame.
“We, uncharacteristically amongst a lot of things that were going on in that game, we turned that ball over – unnecessarily in the fourth quarter to make that a 14-point game”, Addazio said. That’s upsetting to me. That’s helped Golson cut down on the turnovers that cost him the starting job at Notre Dame a season ago, and he’s yet to play as though he’ll be the reason the Seminoles lose a game.
Florida State running back Dalvin Cook (4) tries to outrun Boston College defensive back Justin Simmons (27) and defensive back John Johnson (9) during the first half of an NCAA college football game in Boston, Friday, September 18, 2015.
Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo, who was 51 of 55 on field goals in his career coming in, missed a 42-yard with 1:59 left in the half, which ended with Florida State still ahead 7-0. His is a story that, while heartbreaking, is a breathtaking example of the good we are capable of doing under trying, hopeless circumstances: The former BC lacrosse player saved more than a dozen lives at the World Trade Center’s South Tower following the terrorist strikes on September 11, 2001. Two turnover for BC. “It shows the growth and development of the defense, and I feel like we’re going to have a pretty good year”. That was what I thought and we played from the five, from the 10, from the 20, from the 15.
Idaho State (1-2) came away empty on two trips inside the Boise State 20.
FSU is 3-0 for the fourth consecutive season and won its third straight ACC opener.
Because after marching down the field for an eight-play, 83-yard touchdown drive to start the game, FSU’s offense found little easy against a BC defense that came into the game ranked No. 1 in the country.
It was Smith, now a fifth-year senior, who jarred the ball loose from BC’s Jon Hilliman. “The ball was swinging and he popped it out”, Hilliman said. Hats off to the linebacker and the guy who picked it up. It just went downhill.
Boston College defensive end Kevin Kavalec left the game with a head injury on the second play of the game when Golson, after handing the ball off for an end-around, nailed him with a crushing hit.
Jeff Smith took five snaps at quarterback before he was replaced by Troy Flutie, the nephew of the 1984 Heisman Trophy victor .
