Adrian Peterson trusts Norv Turner and loves riddles
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is in agreement philosophically with those who wonder why Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson weren’t featured more in their respective offenses on opening day. The two will look for better performances as the Minnesota Vikings host the Detroit Lions on Sunday in a battle of NFC North rivals.A promising finish to his rookie season only heightened expectations for Bridgewater, who was sacked five times in a 20-3 setback to San Francisco on Monday.
“Everybody has been talking about us for 11 months and maybe we thought we were a little bit better than what we were”, said Zimmer. Peterson played in one game in 2014, then sat the rest of the season thanks to suspension from the league office, which was in a tailspin from its mishandling of the Ray Rice domestic violence case. “My body got broke in”. “You have to be able to make them make contested catches”. Bridgewater had a solid rookie season and he did it without Peterson in the lineup and that could mean an improved running game this season.
“They’re rare, obviously, real rare”, Caldwell said of Peterson’s skills.
Bridgewater also had a bad interception against the 49ers Monday, as he looked unsettled behind his makeshift offensive, but the problems go deeper than that.
While much of what we’ve had this week following the humiliating loss to the 49ers has been negative, it’s good to see that Adrian Peterson can still have a sense of humor.
“I wasn’t surprised at all and that’s what I love, tough coaching”, Bridgewater said. They will be ready to go for this one, and actually look like it, as well.
“I’m looking forward to it”, said Peterson, who plans to leave more than a dozen tickets for family members. “We’ve got to keep people from coming free at the quarterback”.
“I agree with him”, Bridgewater said in his conference-call interview with the Detroit media.
And although he’s spent his entire career as the face of this franchise, Peterson must now prove that he’s still one of the best in the business with a monster outing versus the Lions in order to regain the on-field trust of his teammates and the unconditional support of Minnesota’s fan-base. I will tell them what I see so that in certain situations, when we come back to this situation, he might have that in the back of his head whatever we talked about earlier. But we’re going to go out there and get ’em.”EXTRA POINTS1″.
-LB DeAndre Levy missed practice Wednesday with a hip injury and his status for Sunday is unknown.
-RG Larry Warford was limited Wednesday, but practiced for the first time this month and could play Sunday.
While there’s much being made about Peterson running out of the shotgun, the Vikings split his 10 carries with six coming from under center and only four from the gun on Monday night.
Defensively, the Vikings were unable to stop running back Carlos Hyde, who ran for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, which leads the National Football League after one week.
Jerick McKinnon had three carries for 20 yards in relief of Peterson.
