Zardari chairs PPP leaders’ meet in Dubai to discuss roadmap
The discussion on the upcoming local bodies’ elections in Punjab and Sindh remained inconclusive and it would be completed today (Sunday) when party leadership would meet again.
Sources said that senior PPP leaders Faryal Talpur and Taj Haider along with Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal left Karachi for Dubai on Friday evening. PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari presided over the meeting where participants dubbed the actions by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as “political victimisation” of the PPP.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) hashed out strategy to pull the plug on the ongoing crackdown by federal agencies in Sindh.
Gatherings and corner meetings would be conducted at district and ward levels.
The deliberation should be made by developing a tense situation between Province and centre in meeting, whereas the final names of candidates shall be framed regarding local governments elections.
Sources said Khursheed Shah briefed the meeting about the entire political scenario including raids by the Rangers, the FIA and NAB in Sindh and subsequent arrests of PPP leaders Dr Asim Hussain, Ali Nawaz Shah, and bureaucrats.
The PPP parliamentary leaders in the Senate and National Assembly were directed to raise the party issues vociferously in both houses of parliament and register protest against the federal government’s campaign of vengeance.
Meantime, the PPP also chose to hold rallies in ten districts of Punjab and five in Sindh.
