Redshirt freshman Micah Kapoi, who got his first extensive work in Week 2 against Miami (Ohio), started at right guard against Troy.

Corn Elder intercepted a pass from Nebraska’s Tommy Armstrong at the goal line on the first play of overtime, and the Cornhuskers added to their problems by having an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty tacked on the end of that play. Wisconsin was 3 of 10 against Troy.
There was a measure of controversy during the game, as two Wisconsin defensive players were ejected for targeting on calls that were reviewed and upheld.
ABOUT TROY (1-1): Senior Teddy Ruben, who became the first Trojan since 2010 to score on a return of any kind last week when he ran back a punt 64 yards, set career highs in catches (six), receiving yards (89) and receiving touchdowns (two) against the Buccaneers.
“Yeah, it was a unusual afternoon”, Badgers quarterback Joel Stave admitted.

Quarterback Brandon Silvers brought Troy to Wisconsin’s 25-yard line with just under 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Silvers was tackled by Wisconsin inside linebacker Leon Jacobs, and lost his helmet on a hit late in the first half. “And he will. He’s a quality man and a good teammate, so it will be important to him, I promise”.
According to UW officials, a heat detector near the pizza oven in the main kitchen of the stadium caused the alarm.
“Ladies and gentlemen, there is not a fire”, the referee told the crowd to cheers.

But Wisconsin capitalized on the ensuing drive and scored on a 32-yard quarterback option run by backup quarterback Tanner McEvoy for a 21-3 lead.
The Badgers defense did not allow any points in the second half, and held Troy to 255 yards of total offense.
Silvers finished with 174 yards on 23 of 34 passing without a touchdown or interception.
“I missed out on a few chances in the third quarter”.
“I felt like I got better”, Deal said. Wisconsin linebacker Joe Schobert said football requires split-second decisions and he didn’t necessarily agree with the ejections.
The loss of Jacobs also forced the Badgers to throw true freshman Chris Orr into heavy action, and the young player lived up to the challenge, as his name was called again and again as he piled up the tackles. With Erickson on the ground, wide receiver Reggie Love made a pivotal play, beating out a group of Trojans to the ball.
