Mourinho: I’m not happy with myself
Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat at Everton on Saturday marked the London-based team’s worst opening in the Premier League in 29 years.
The result was in stark contrast to the corresponding fixture last season when the Blues ran out 6-3 victors on Merseyside, and Martinez was pleased with how his players coped against Jose Mourinho’s side this time around.
The Daily Mail says Martinez had just given a routine press conference and was standing outside Goodison’s media room, speaking to national newspapers, when a visibly irate Mourinho stormed into view.
LIVERPOOL – Jose Mourinho insists he is not under pressure even though “everything is against” Chelsea after their stuttering start to their Premier League title defence suffered another huge blow.
They now trail leaders Manchester City by 11 points.
I know that it is easy for everybody to criticize me and the players and everything is wrong and we don’t play nothing, I completely disagree.
However, Mourinho said he had faith in his players and that Chelsea’s fortunes would turn.

After the game, the Chelsea manager would speak only about how unlucky he felt his side had been. That’s so simple. I’m the man with the bad results, I’m responsible for that, I’ve no problem with that. The confidence is low, the team has some doubts. “I don’t like when you ask me questions saying “somebody told this, somebody told that”. But the players deserved more.
“We need one big win to come back to our way”, he said. Every mistake we are punished, immediately. After that, a fantastic reaction.
“We know we can play better but what you are looking at is a complete performance”.
Naismith scored a hat-trick on his Everton debut in a 2012 testimonial for Tony Hibbert, and of Saturday’s treble he said: ‘When the third goal went in there was a lot of relief but also a lot of great personal joy’.
