Emmy Awards 2015 [Watch Live Stream] Time, Date, Nominations, Tickets
Today is definitely no “Lazy Sunday” for Emmy Awards host Andy Samberg. Or the Grammys. Or Wednesday’s GOP debate. The primetime Emmys may not clean up in the ratings, but an award can burnish an actor’s career and, as with “Homeland” three years ago, suddenly elevate a show to “must-watch” status.
74Most Emmy nominations for an individual is held by Hector Ramirez, including for his work on CBS’ “The Kennedy Center Honor” and “Dancing with the Stars”.
E! News will also be covering the Emmys red carpet starting at 4:30 p.m. ET with their countdown to the Emmys, followed by the 6:00 p.m. ET Live! After years of complaints of staid and predictable voting, the Emmys have finally caught up with the changes shaking up the TV business.
For those keeping score, HBO leads all networks with 126 nominations, led by multiple nods for “Game of Thrones” and “Veep“.
Here’s a look at what to watch for on Sunday.
At Saturday’s cocktail reception for Emmy nominees hosted by the TV academy, we chatted with Best Drama Supporting Actor contender Alan Cumming (“The Good Wife”) on the red carpet about his Emmy nomination and his nemesis next season on the show, Margo Martindale.
Who will win: Game of Thrones. It is hoping to repeat the success of “Breaking Bad” and “The Sopranos“, both of which won the Emmy in their final seasons. Eleven out of 18 experts predict Mad Men will also win Best Drama Series (4-to-5 odds), which would set a new record.
Viola Davis, who stars as a cutthroat attorney in ABC’s “How to Get Away With Murder”, and Tariji P. Henson, unyielding matriarch Cookie in Fox’s hip-hop family drama “Empire“, are vying to be the first black woman to claim top drama acting honors. In the drama category, “House of Cards” and “Orange Is The New Black” are in contention, but none of them are heavily fancied to win.
On the comedy side, the ABC sitcom “Modern Family” has been named best comedy five years in a row. It has been nominated each of the preceding 13 years the category has been in existence. It’s a clever show, but in 2015 it feels like someone else’s turn.

Poehler’s task is tougher.
It only needs to win two of those to break The West Wing’s record of nine series wins in a single year.
Samberg said he is excited to be hosting, but plans to avoid following the reactions too closely. We’re talking red carpet winners, and not even talking about Jaime Lannister’s stunning real-life counterpart Nikolaj Coster-Waldau…
And maybe a clever “Lazy Sunday”-style video?”
” Veep has been a tremendous hit for HBO and considering that we are going into an election season, everyone is talking about political issues right now”, Birnbaum said. Unfortunately. One-hour shows will be in the drama category unless producers can persuade a nine-member panel to see it differently.
