Evacuations announced for 1200-acre Tassajara Fire south of Monterey, Salinas

Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies had planned to escort people who live in the affected areas in the afternoon, but cancelled just before 3pm because conditions were too risky . Brown made the connection between the fires and the climate, saying: “This is the future”.

The communities of Cachagua and Jamesburg have been evacuated as has Tassajara Road from Carmel Valley to Cachagua roads.

Eaton said he’s never seen a fire like this one in the area of his home.
