Texas Fishermen Rescue Four From Burning Yacht
The family all jumped in, too.
US Coast Guard Four people are lucky to be alive after they were rescued from this burning yacht near Galveston, Texas on Saturday.
“I appeared to be screaming, ‘throw kids, toss your kid!'” Michael Marquez remembered Saturday evening’s traumatic help off the beach of Galveston to actually KHOU. One of the Good Samaritans said he was going fishing with his friends when they saw the boat was on fire. KPRC By the time the U.S. Coast Guard responded to distress calls from good Samaritans the boat was described as completely engulfed in flames and already sinking.
Stranded onboard the dropping watercraft became a mothers, 6-year-old teenager, his papa and granddaddy.
Marquez was quoted by the Daily Mail as having said that his “instinct” was to get the young boy off the burning boat and onto his own. Throw the kid!’
All four passengers jumped into the water after the fire started and two were not wearing life jackets.
‘We got those two aboard my boat, ‘ Marquez told KHOU.
The yacht sunk about an hour after the fire.
The incident took place near the Galveston jetty at around 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 local time).
The Coast Guard also tipped their hat to the Good Samaritans.
Four people were saved by a passing boater after their yacht erupted in flames off the coast of Texas on Saturday, the Coast Guard said.
