Oklahoma vs. Tulsa Prediction, Game Preview
Today’s game has an early start time and is airing on a niche TV channel but is also being made available as a live stream online option.
Oklahoma has rolled past Tulsa by an average of 38 points in their past eight meetings.
Through three quarters, Mayfield had only completed 8 of 25 pass attempts for 84 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Against Florida Atlantic, TU allowed the Owls to score 41 points before squeaking by with an overtime win.
Oklahoma star running back Samje Perine left the Sooners’ game against Tulsa in the second quarter after fumbling the ball and apparently hurting his wrist. They also rank sixth and seventh nationally for receiving yards per game. Tulsa’s last win came in 1996…. “We knew through the week that when we were in five wides that that box could open up and if something wasn’t there, we knew that was going to be an opportunity and he took it and ran with it”. The Sooners are 12-3-1 against TU in Norman. But the Bears immediately marched 75 yards in four plays, capped by a one-yard Vic Enwere run, to pull within 24-21, and Jalen Jefferson stepped in front of a Jerrod Heard and raced it back to the Texas 30, leading to a 34-yard Matt Anderson field goal that knotted the game at 24-24 at the half. Tulsa is 2-0 for the first time since 2009 but hasn’t defeated Oklahoma since 1996. The defense could struggle against Oklahoma in this one and odds are the Sooners will have no problems going above 33 points.
ABOUT TULSA (2-0): The Golden Hurricane have topped 600 yards in consecutive games for the first time since a two-game run against SMU and Texas-El Paso in the 2008 season.
Tulsa football is under new direction as Philip Montgomery was named the 29th head coach in school history on December 11, 2014. Montgomery brought his offense to an offensive line that is extremely experienced, returning four starters including three who have started at least two years.
Oklahoma: WR Sterling Shepard.
Tulsa immediately marched to a touchdown of their own, with Zack Langer scoring from a yard out to make it 38-31. The Golden Hurricane, however, have the fourth best passing offense in the country right now. If Bond can keep up the dominance from last week, it will not only force Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans to rush throws, but it will draw some attention away from Preseason All Big-12 defensive end Eric Striker. Both teams are on bye next week, so the focus should be there from both schools in this one.
