Wolves ‘want’ Shola Ameobi
Shola Ameobi played at Newcastle United for most of his career but had brief spells at Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Gaziantep BB.
Former Nigeria global Shola Ameobi is thrashing out an agreement with Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers, but will first have to prove his fitness to coach Kenny Jackett having been inactive for exactly six months.
Jackett said: “We are having Shola down for a couple of days training and talks”.
And the Black Country club’s busy schedule means ex-Town midfielder Conor Coady will be available for that match despite being sent off during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with leaders Brighton. It is a “look and see” both ways as he has other options’.
Ameobi was scheduled to appear for Wolves Under-21s at Swansea tonight. He managed to score 10 goals in 18 appearances when Newcastle dropped down to the Championship.
Coady was dismissed four minutes after half time for a challenge on Liam Rosenior.
The Wolves boss said: “Like everybody in the stadium, I was surprised by the decision of a straight red. The way they fought and battled was fantastic in what was a heroic display”.
