Syrian refugee takes his puppy with him to Greece
A 17-year-old Syrian refugee brought his puppy all the way to Greece, a video shared Saturday by the UN Refugee Agency shows.
A video posted on Facebook by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or UNHCR is about 17-year-old Aslan from Damascus who escaped to the Greek Island of Lesbos only recently.
According to the video, he was originally told he wasn’t able to bring his dog, named Rose, but the boy wouldn’t take “no” for an answer.
But when forced to flee his home, he couldn’t bare the thought of leaving his pup Rose behind. He said he has everything the two need to survive, including water and food.
When asked why, for such an arduous journey, he carried a dog, Al Hakim replied simply: “I love my dog”.
For Aslan, 17, that meant his pet dog.
Nearly 60 million people worldwide were forcibly displaced from their homes by wars, conflict and persecution at the end of a year ago .
