Bret Bielema of Arkansas Razorbacks jabs back at Kliff Kingsbury
The Arkansas football game at Tennessee will kick off at 6 or 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.
It’s that belief in the spread that prompted Kingsbury to make it clear he had a point to prove in Texas Tech’s 35-24 win over reeling Arkansas on Saturday night. “I’m happy he got to vent, and hopefully he feels a lot better”, Bielema said.
Arkansas beat Texas Tech 49-28 in Lubbock during the 2014 season.
Bret Bielema pointed to the coaching records in response to Kliff Kingsbury’s dig.
While I’m sure it’s not the last we’ll hear of Bielema feeling a little too good about himself and his team and being unable to keep from expressing himself in the worst possible way, at least it will be entertaining when he answers for it on the field.
“I’ve moved on from that”, he said.
With a fourth of the season behind them, it’s time for the Razorbacks to start becoming the team Bielema and everyone else expected them to be. On September 9 he questioned the quality of Ohio State’s schedule before the Buckeyes played Hawaii, then saw his own team lose the following Saturday to Toledo.
It was the first question he took in Monday’s press conference saying in part “What is said is said and we are moving on to TCU”.
Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury is done talking about Bret Bielema.
Bielema had compared his preferred traditional offensive philosophy to the up-tempo spread attacks now in vogue in college football – including at Texas Tech – and which have proliferated for years in Texas high school ranks. “He’s a prideful guy, and he says what’s on his mind, but it just hasn’t worked out for him”. “I’ve never really had that before”. Texas opens Big 12 play Saturday by hosting Oklahoma State (3-0). “We need to do it more”, Stoops said. I wasn’t defending anything. All the people that comment about it, I doubt they read the text or the content of when any of this was said.
Only Kingsbury knows how personally he and his father actually took Bielema’s comments from the summer, but in actuality, those comments had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. “Asked what was said between the coaches, he said: “(It was a) normal postgame handshake”.
Kingsbury did confirm that he and Bielema shook hands after the game, refuting suggestions that the two ignored each other.
